There were a total of 10 bicycles and tricycles. If the total number of wheels was 24, how many tricycles were there?

Solution

Let tricycles $=t$, bicycles $=10-t$
Total wheels $=3t+2(10-t)=24$
$3t+20-2t=24 \Rightarrow t=4$
